Monochrome Monday Series
Monochrome Monday is a weekly photo series where I share a black-and-white (or otherwise monochromatic) image on a Monday, along with a brief reflection on the photo or a bit about what's happening that week. It’s a chance to slow down, observe the world without the distraction of color, and focus on the essentials of composition, tone, and light.
This series serves as an ongoing personal challenge, to keep my eye trained in monochrome as a photographer and to continue improving my black-and-white skills. It’s also a reminder that powerful images don’t always need color. Sometimes, stripping things back to light and shadow reveals and tonalities work more than a full-color frame ever could.
Why Monochrome?
- It sharpens your photographic eye. Without color, you're forced to pay closer attention to shape, texture, and contrast.
- It simplifies the story. Monochrome can cut through visual clutter and highlight the core subject.
- It’s timeless. Black and white photography often carries a classic, emotional weight that color sometimes can’t match.
- It builds consistency. A weekly focus on monochrome encourages steady growth and creative discipline.
