Weekly Photo Challenge Series

The Weekly Photo Challenge is a creative tradition that originally began as a community project hosted by WordPress.com. Each week, bloggers from around the world would respond to a shared prompt by posting a photo that captured that theme. It was a simple but powerful way to stay inspired, engage with others, and keep the creative momentum going.

Formerly Hosted

Though the original WordPress-hosted challenge eventually came to an end, the spirit of it lives on here. This was a weekly challenge, but now I continue the Weekly Photo Challenge on my own—with or without a prompt—by sharing an image that represents a theme, mood, idea, or moment. Sometimes it’s based on a specific word or concept, and other times it’s just whatever feels most fitting that week. Either way, the goal is the same: keep shooting, stay curious, and use photography to explore the world around us.

Why the Weekly Photo Challenge Still Matters

• It keeps you creating. Even when you’re short on time or inspiration, a simple challenge can push you to keep producing work.
• It sparks fresh ideas. A theme or constraint often leads to unexpected results.
• It documents your week. One photo a week may seem small, but over time it builds a meaningful collection.
• It welcomes everyone. You don’t need fancy gear or complex ideas—just the willingness to see things a little differently.
