My First Photo Book on Jordan-Hare Stadium

A finished photography project seems to be as elusive as it is a misnomer. I have always wanted to complete a photography project—a collective work that is more meaningful as a whole than as individual images. And I finally did it. Views of a Stadium | Jordan-Hare Photography Book is an actual physically printed book on real paper, and you can pick up a copy today.

Views of a Stadium takes a look at Jordan-Hare Stadium from around 2008 through 2024. Not in an historical sense, but from the perspective of a fan and resident going to regular season games. The book covers the sights, the colors, the gathering of 100,000 people on a Saturday to the off-season when the stadium is quiet and at rest.

I started working on this book project back in 2016 and continued to collect images for the project almost until it went to print. The last images included in this book were taken at the 2024 Auburn A-Day game and were shot on expired Kodak 35mm film. When I got the images back from the lab, I knew I had to include some of them in this book. They had a timeless quality with their faded colors, capturing a moment when Jordan-Hare Stadium was not at full capacity.

Overall, I went through the better part of 50,000 images to select the 67 images I included in this book. There were so many other photos I wanted to include, but space and time just didn't allow it, and curating this project was probably the most difficult part of the process.

If you are a photographer and have never taken the time to design and print your own work, I would say, try to make it a priority. There is just something about the entire process that makes you appreciate the effort you took to create the images all the more. I've already started working on the next project and can't wait to share some of that work here at some point.
