Today was an early work day out in the garden. With the temps as high as they are now we have to get out and do the work while we can. This normally means first light to 8am, and then it's about too hot outside.

The project for this morning was to get loads of dirt from our excavation site (a big hole in the back of the pasture), and fill the newly weeded Iris and Lily garden. The detailed post will eventually go up on our garden site Dig.Garden where we are chronicling the garden build on that blog. We went back to the beginning when we first broke ground in 2022 and are working our way to current day. So far we are up to May 2024.

Summer Work

This summer has been the usual heat that always makes me wonder how anyone could ever live here before there was air conditioning. It's probably just as hot as it was last year. Maybe the older I get the less tolerant I am of the relentless heat and humidity we are so blessed with down here.

If I'm honest I would rather be out riding bikes or taking photos, of just about anything, but it does give me a little more time on the computer. What else is one going to do in the heat of the day but work on, well... work. I've had a little more time to develop our newer websites for our travel and garden adventures. That has been great, we've made a lot of progress on those sites.

I guess this is actually my normal routine. I have done this type of work now since the 90's so maybe there really isn't a finish line for my website projects.

Re-Discovered Obsidian

A few weeks ago I re-discovered Obsidian and remembered why everyone who uses it is so obsessed with it. I started working with my 25,000+ note files in Obsidian after taking a few years off from that project, then I realized Obsidian Publish was a great solution to a problem I've been fighting with for years. What to do with all my non-blog type content I've put together for the last few decades. It works a little like my own wiki site. I've made some decent progress and will keep churning away at it to see where it goes. I like the idea of being able to put down all the info about my gear in one place with sub-sections on Nikon and so on. It's definitely a work in progress for now.

It is nice to have found several other sites on the Internet that have the same conundrum as I do when it comes to data and blogs. My most recent find was baty.net and his post Why do I keep trying Obsidian? though I'm not sure if that helps or hurts my obsession with data.

I'm sure all our flowers and plants love the humidity in the air this time of year. Just look how thick it looks above. Today I'm thankful for electricity and air conditioning.
